Asbestos Surveys

If you're living in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset it's important to know that asbestos can be found in many properties built before the year 2000. Asbestos is a harmful substance that was commonly used in building materials such as insulation, roofing, and flooring. Asbestos fibres can cause serious respiratory illnesses if they are inhaled, so it's essential to have an asbestos survey conducted if you are planning to undertake any renovations or repairs on an older property.

Who Needs an Asbestos Survey?

Under UK law (CAR2012), an asbestos survey is a legal requirement for:
  • Duty holders managing non-domestic premises.
  • Property owners, landlords, and managing agents.
  • Employers responsible for workplaces.
  • Contractors or developers planning refurbishments or demolition.
  • Homebuyers or sellers concerned about the presence of asbestos in older properties.
If your building was constructed before 2000, a survey is highly recommended—even if it’s a residential property.

Types of Asbestos Surveys We Offer

Management Survey
Designed for ongoing occupation and use of the building. It identifies ACMs that could be disturbed during normal maintenance or occupancy.
Refurbishment & Demolition Survey (R&D Survey)
Required before any major renovation or demolition. This is more intrusive and locates ACMs that might be hidden behind walls, ceilings, or floors.

Our Survey Process

Site Inspection – Our qualified surveyors conduct a thorough inspection using accredited methods.
Sampling & Testing – Suspect materials are sampled and tested at UKAS-accredited laboratories.
Comprehensive Report – You’ll receive a detailed report including:
  • Locations and types of ACMs
  • Photographs and risk assessments
  • Recommendations for safe management or removal
  • Ongoing Support – We provide expert advice on asbestos management plans, re-inspections, and compliance monitoring.
